A College in a Seminary Environment

 

TI GraduationThe Anne M. Blitstein Teachers Institute graduating class of 2008 was comprised of 29 students from across the world.  Of those graduates, Leah Klein from Jerusalem is completing her pre-med requirements at Loyola University, while Leiba Cherrick from Chicago has completed several of the exams towards her actuary certification.  Mira Cohen from Toronto is working at Tiferes Bais Yaakov in her hometown; Sara Herst from Chicago is teaching at Maimonides Day School in Brookline, Mass., while Mrs. Miriam Kamenetsky continues her teaching career in Toronto.  Shira Sherman Ruben (originally from Detroit), Bluma Caytak (from Ottawa) and Shaynee Simon from Oregon were certified by the State of Illinois and are pursuing careers in education.  Ahuva Shapiro from Milwaukee is pursuing a Master's in Speech and Language Pathology in New York; Reena Shapiro Rabovsky is working on a Master's in School Psychology, while Leah Krauss Brodie is pursuing a graduate degree in Pharmacology.  Tali Goldstein is pursuing a Master's in Physical Therapy, and Tami Lipshitz Lev is pursuing a degree in Nursing.  Chani Friedman Schwarcz and Devorah Messing have begun studies for a Master's in Social Work.  Rachel Gross has begun work on a Master's in Writing at DePaul University.

 

These students are walking in the footsteps of their recent predecessors who have pursued excellence in all aspects of their lives - both the spiritual and temporal.  Such alumnae bring credit to themselves and to TI as they are mekadesh Shem Shamayim in the workplace and in the community in which they reside. 

 

Elyssa Gershater (class of 2006) won multiple awards in nursing at the graduation ceremony of Rush University; she has begun her nursing career in Skokie at Rush North Shore Hospital.  Michal Saletta (2006) completed her Master's in Speech and Language Pathology at Rush, and has been accepted for the Ph.D. program.  Rachel Kurtz Wender (2006) is completing her Master's in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University.  Sarit Gershman Lefton (2006) completed her Master's in Occupational Therapy and is currently completing a clinical internship at the Lieberman Geriatric Center.  Ayelet Gershman (2007) and Esti Rokach (2007) are working for a Master's in Physical Therapy at Midwestern University.  Elana Loew (2007) is working for an MSW at Jane Addams School of Social Work.  Malke Segal (2007) completed all four exams for the CPA on the first try.  Aliza Sloan (2006) completed a research assistantship at University of Chicago, and is completing her Master's in Neuropsychology at NYU.   Jessie Glaser (2007) is working on her Master's in Psychology at Northwestern while continuing her work for NCSY.  Alissa Tanzar Zeffren (2007) is working on a Master's in History at DePaul University while teaching at Bais Yaakov High School in Chicago.
