Academic Requirements and Opportunities

All TI students complete a primary major in Judaic Studies.   They may opt to specialize in specific fields of Limudei Kodesh; such specialization is vital for students planning careers teaching in Judaic high schools and colleges. For a young woman seeking a career in Chinuch, a double major in Judaic Studies and Education provides the credentials that represent proficiency and skills in theory and best practices in Jewish education.  TI graduates are placed at the finest day schools throughout the United States.

All TI students are required to complete a core of Liberal Arts and Sciences that introduces them to alternate career paths and provides the analytical and communication skills as well as the broad base of knowledge that are the hallmarks of a college-educated woman.  In addition, HTC’s Kanter School of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides programs for various majors as well as preparation for advanced graduate and professional study.  Options for advanced study in specific disciplines are available, and majors include Accounting, Business, Computer and Information Sciences, Education, English, and Psychology.  Education majors are prepared for state certification in Elementary and Special Education, enabling graduates to teach both Judaic and general studies in private and public schools.

Students seeking careers that require advanced degrees are provided with the necessary pre-professional training.  TI provides the coursework needed for admission to graduate programs in Law, Clinical and Educational Psychology, Social Work, as well as in the allied health fields, such as Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational or Physical Therapy, and Nursing.  The excellence of the pre-professional education at TI is reflected in graduate admission tests and state licensure exams, as well as graduate fellowships and teaching assistantships. TI graduates have enrolled in Masters and Doctoral professional programs, and are already making a positive impact in Jewish educational and communal leadership.
