Michelle (Malkie) Eisenberg, PhD, is the English Department Chair at HTC/SHWCT. Dr. Eisenberg received her BA from Pace University, New York, her MA from Northeastern Illinois University, and her PhD at Northern Illinois University.  She has taught Composition and Literature for over 30 years and was instrumental in creating the English Major at HTC/SHWCT, where she has served as Chairman of the Department since 2003. Dr. Eisenberg is also the director of the Adult Degree Completion Program. Dr. Eisenberg is a certified CAEL (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning) evaluator and has assisted many adult students complete their bachelor’s degree using life learning.

Dr. Eisenberg’s love of language and performing arts has led to writing plays and songs for various venues, as well as teaching, acting, and directing. Last year, she was appointed director of the Ralla Klepak Performing Arts Leadership Initiative, made possible by the Ralla Klepak Trust for Education in the Performing Arts.  This program enhances HTC/SHWCT courses through the understanding of the use and benefits of the performing arts and provides opportunities for children in the community to participate in art, dance, drama, and voice programs. Aside from her responsibilities at HTC/SHWCT, Dr. Eisenberg is a highly sought-after speaker at community events.  Her talks focus on religious, inspirational, and motivational topics.
